Anyone who is signed in can propose that two human profiles represent the same person. The proposal does not merge or hide anything by itself. A moderator must approve the review first. Until then both profiles stay fully visible, including in search autocompletion.
Start the review from the human profile that should be closed. On that profile, open Close profile as duplicate in the Contributions section. The same action is also available from the profile menu and from the Duplicate profiles section on the /data page. The form always treats the current profile as the profile to close; that field cannot be edited.
Fill in the original human profile UUID (the profile to keep) and explain why the two identities match. Submitting the form creates a pending review assigned to the moderator @ruslan. Creating the review never applies the duplicate mark, even if @ruslan is also the person who proposed it.
Only the assigned reviewer can approve or reject the review. After approval, the closed profile is excluded from main-search autocompletion, remains reachable by direct URL, and appears in the Duplicate profiles list on the original profile’s /data page and on /human/{id}/duplicates. Rejected reviews leave both profiles unchanged.
To follow a review, open the Duplicate profile reviews section on the /data page of either profile. The section title opens the paginated list at /human/{id}/duplicate-reviews. Each entry links to its status page at /human_profile_duplicate_review/{reviewId} with the note, the assigned moderator, and the decision. Assigned reviews also appear in the moderator inbox at /reviews/{userId}, together with quote-accuracy reviews, and can be filtered by type Duplicate human profile.
